January 20, 2008: To be continued...

First of all, we would like to welcome you to the new year, although it's a bit late for that. As you most likely have noticed, we have had a lot of changes since the last news update over a year ago. We've got a lot more in store as well. For those of you who haven't been paying attention or viewing our site, it is our pleasure to give you an opportunity to test and comment on some of our new forum features for RTB2.0.

You can now view a list of servers from our forum menu. You can sort by a variety of options, including player number, server name and the number of bricks.

A beta version of the new IRC client we hope to launch with the next release has been distributed to our beta testers. If you scroll down to the Who's Online section of the RTB forums, you can see who is playing RTB right now, and take a peak at what servers they are playing in.

The IRC client is part of our new RTB Connect feature (seen left). Through RTB Connect we hope to make mod installation and communication even easier before. You will be able to talk to your friends, see what the newest and coolest mods are, and download them straight to your game.

For anyone concerned about having to make their mods compatible for use with the RTB Downloader: Don't be! No extra changes need to be made to a standard ZIP file (for v9) for it to work with the RTB Downloader.

Here are some screenshots of our web-based uploading and mod management system:

That sums up the RTB news update, now for some community announcements.

Badspot, Blockland's creator, has confirmed that Blockland v9 will contain scripted events! Learn more here! Below is a preview of scripted events posted by Badspot.

Finally, some fine builds by our members!

Congratulations to The Scripter, darth volga, TheGeek, The Ace of Spades, Facechild, J3wel and Bones4 for making the front page!

Feel free to comment on the forums, or talk to us on the IRC. Have a question? Post on our new RTB FAQ. Thanks for reading!

September 14, 2006: 20,000 forum posts under the sea...

You may be a little smarter than the average Blockhead if you know the reference in the post title, so give yourself a pat on the back. If you didn't know, then it doesn't matter, and you should consider reading more.

I'm writing this post to report that we've now reached our 20,000th post in the RTB forums. Like I said in our celebration thread, we can only thank you guys (the community) for making it happen. RTB would just be an after-thought if it weren't for our dedicated users who inspire us everyday.

While I'm on the subject of our forums, I'd love to turn your attention to our brand new reputation system. Now you can add or subtract points to/from forum members' reputation levels if they make intelligent/dumb posts. We put this in place so that we could acknowledge the importance of our more helpful users, and also push our newer posters to improve their posting skills. So far the system has worked beautifully, with only a couple minor hiccups.

We've got some other nice things that we're still planning for the forums, so stay tuned for more on that later. We're also still working on RTB version 1.05 right now too, and we're really excited about it. We'll have more on that later on too, of course. Until then, thanks for your support everyone, we look forward to making more memories with you all in the present and future!

June 15, 2006: 1.045 Update Released.

Details here.

We'll be making the the new default install soon as well. We'll update this post when that happens.

March 22, 2006: RTB 1.041 Patch released.

March 04, 2006: 1.04 has been released!

Yes, it's only 3 months late! Amazing work ethic by the RTB staff. Actually in all seriousness we have been working very hard lately, and are proud to release version 1.04 of Return to Blockland. Get it right now on the downloads page.

New features in RTB 1.04:

o In-game IRC chat. Now you can chat with everyone who's playing RTB. Push "i" anytime to open the chat window.
o In-game RSS reader means you can get live news feeds from RTB staff members on updates about the mod.
o All new GUI skins, includes a lot of nice flare added to the GUIs.
o New editor wand set up. Hit a brick with the EW, then push ctrl+e to open the EW menu.
o Now you can become a monkey or cat. That makes a total of 4 alternative player models you can use in RTB.
o Dozens of new player accessories have been added, along with a load of new bricks.
o More precise brick moving techniques. You had super shifting before, now say hello to tiny shifting!
o Brick decals! It's a wrench mode.
o Global, team, local, and private messaging abilities.
o MANY more admin options. Too many to list here.
o A bunch of other stuff that Mocheeze can't remember.

Like I said earlier, we are planning to release a patch in a bout a week with some more cool stuff and some bug fixes. So stay tuned for that.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: For now, do not run RTB in the same Blockland folder as other mods. The 'Play RTB.bat' file can delete all of those files in there. So until we can patch this, please be careful. We don't want you to lose your data on other mods. If you don't use other mods, then don't worry about this.

January 27, 2006: Reasons to believe...

I know it's been a while, but we are in-fact still working on RtB. It's just we haven't had much time to finish up version 04. You might be seeing a lot of changes on the RTB site, it will most likely start turning into a more general game development site. Also we are currently working on other projects which may or may not be released on this site, depending on how things go.

I hope you guys enjoy the new changes as they happen, or if they happen, but anyway sorry for the lack of updates. Hopefully soon you'll start seeing some big changes/updates.

Hopefully by next update, we'll have some pictures of the new version, and maybe some pics of our other projects.

UPDATE: We've decided to release astro's little brick pack for everyone to enjoy. Details here.

January 04, 2006: Rolling down the 'Road to Buloxi'...

We now have a package with Vanilla Blockland ("vanilla" means that it's the version of blockland available from Blockland.us) and RTB combined in one installer. The link is right here.

We've also been working (somewhat sporadically) on version 1.04 of RTB. We're sorry that we're taking a while to finish. We took a month off after 1.032 and have taken a lot of time off for the holidays. We're fixing bugs in our latest 1.04 Beta, so hopefully we will releasing before too long. Thanks for sticking with us! :)
